When I-FAAST is enabled on a volume, Diskeeper runs specially-engineered benchmarks on the selected NTFS volumes to learn their individual performance characteristics. (Not all disks have the same characteristics.)
Diskeeper then transparently monitors these volumes for file access frequency on an ongoing basis in to determine which files are requested most often. Special analysis techniques prevent Diskeeper from being "fooled" by files that have been recently accessed.

Frag shield dynamically reduces fragmentation of critical system files, maintaining system stability and reliability. Frag Shield performs two vital tasks: It helps prevent fragmentation of the MTF (Master File Tables - the place where information about every file and directory on an NTFS hard drive is stored).
It also assists you in setting up your paging files (a hidden file on your computer's hard disk that Windows XP & Vista uses as if it were RAM) such that fragmentation will be very unlikely to occur in the future. When this option is enabled and the computer switches from normal power to battery power, any ongoing Automatic Defragmentation is safely postponed and a message noting this is written to the Windows Application Event Log. A message is also displayed informing you that Automatic Defragmentation has been postponed. When the computer switches back to normal power, Automatic Defragmentation will resume.
When the computer is running on battery power, any ongoing Manual Defragmentation jobs are canceled and a message noting this is written to the Windows Application Event Log. The preferred method for installing Diskeeper on computers across your network is the PushInstall feature, available in Diskeeper Administrator. Using the PushInstall feature, Diskeeper Administrator can deploy Diskeeper Professional or Diskeeper Server simultaneously to multiple computers on a network from a single machine acting as an administrative console. Diskeeper PushInstall can save you a tremendous amount of time and effort, especially on large networks, where the same software needs to be installed on hundreds, or even thousands of computers.
If you do not already have Diskeeper Administrator you can download fully functional 30-day trialware from www.diskeeper.com/downloads and use the software (during the trial period) to quickly and easily deploy Diskeeper across your network. If you have more than 10-20 machines to which you plan to install software, Diskeeper Administrator will save you significant time.
To make use of the PushInstall feature, you must install Diskeeper Administrator on a computer that will act as the administrative console for all your Diskeeper installations network-wide. You must also be logged into a domain administrator account or an account that is a local administrator account on the target computers.
